Raised in an artistic and design conscious family, she spent her childhood immersed in a culturally rich home surrounded by modern furniture and art. In 1986 she entered the Rhode Island School of Design to major in film. Yasmin took time off to pursue composing, recording and playing rock music before completing her studies. It was while finishing her BFA at RISD that she took an elective class in metalsmithing and found a new voice in jewelry design. Inspired by the innumerable possibilities of bodily adornment that jewelry offers, she established her studio, yasmin kuhn design in 2005. Yasmin works in a variety of mediums, photography, printmaking, baking and fermenting. She enjoys the process of both learning and teaching, as knowledge needs to be shared. She is currently recording her latest musical project, due in 2023.
